Chicago 1893 Augmented Reality Experience Now Available on Instagram
Chicago 1893 has made its first augmented reality experience available for free on Meta platforms including Facebook and Instagram. This initial release is a 3D digital model of the Administration Building of the Columbian Exposition.
“Seeing these buildings rendered digitally and layered over a camera view of the physical world while traveling across the country has been awesome. Very pleased to make this piece of the project widely accessible on social networks“, remarked Chicago 1893 Project Lead Michael Finney.
Phase 1 of the project sees the recreation of structures located around what was known as the Court of Honor at the Columbian Exposition, which was held in Jackson Park on the south side of Chicago in 1893. Renowned architects were selected for these feature structures, which now longer exist.
“The mission has been to bring the Columbian Exposition back to life. Seeing these structures in cities and open spaces over the last year has been incredible and I’m very happy to be able to share the work with the people that appreciate the legacy of the 1893 World’s Fair”, Finney added.
