A while back I visited the American Computer & Robotics museum in Bozeman Montana.

It has an excellent historical view of data, media, & computation including elaborate displays of technology & concepts

In pic this pic:

  • Information
  • Transmission
  • Binary
  • Written word replication via Gutenberg press & spoken word by electronics

Rooms are themed to focus on connecting ideas via epistemological models and information. Such as these images relating

  • Brains
  • Development
  • Human design
  • Neuronal connectivity
  • Analogy to electronics

Enhancing our capabilities is the value of tool creation. Outsourcing certain mental tasks to technology is valuable, if it frees us up to be more human I these photos we see examples of:

  • Categorization & Storage
  • Recall & pattern recognition

The museum also explores robotics with a collection of examples from over the decades With a focus on behavior emulation and automation, they illustrate how these technologies incorporate with human culture as well as examples in media when they don’t.

The discussion would be incomplete without drawing a connection through physics between consciousness and the cosmos, in my opinion. The museum illustrates

  • Quantum observation manifesting reality
  • A model that scales from the microscopic to the macroscopic

It also happen to be where I got a pair of these great bookmarks!

THANKS FOR READING!
